Understanding Washington County Releases
A release from Washington County Jail means one county booking has ended. It does not always mean the person walked into the community with no further legal restraint. A defendant may post bond, receive a court-ordered release, finish a short sentence, receive credit for time served, or begin probation. The jail may instead transfer the person to the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC), another county, the U.S. Marshals Service, or immigration custody. Each event removes the name from the county's current Daily Inmate Roster, yet only some are community releases.
The Washington County Sheriff holds the operational jail record. That record can identify the release time, reason, releasing authority, and receiving agency when those fields are public. The court docket explains the order or judgment behind the event. IDOC records show state imprisonment or community supervision. These sources should not be collapsed into a single status. A roster absence is a useful signal, but it is not proof of the destination.
- Release
- The end of a particular custody event, which may be followed by supervision or another hold.
- Discharge
- The end of a sentence or supervision obligation, not merely departure from a jail building.
- Detainer
- A request or authority that may cause transfer to another custodian.
- Time served
- A court outcome crediting confinement already completed toward the sentence.
Washington County Release Paths
The label attached to the jail entry matters. Bond and own-recognizance release generally concern pretrial liberty, while dismissal concerns a charge or case. Neither proves that another case or hold is absent. A sentence completion closes a local confinement term. Probation places a person in the community under court-ordered conditions. A state commitment sends the person into IDOC's system rather than home.
| Release path | What to check next | Best confirming record |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | Conditions and later hearings | Sheriff release entry plus iCourt |
| Time served or sentence completion | Other cases and holds | Judgment and jail release entry |
| Probation | Supervising office and sentence status | iCourt and IDOC when listed |
| State transfer | IDOC custody location and sentence fields | IDOC Resident/Client Search |
| Federal or immigration transfer | Receiving custodian | BOP, federal court, USMS, or ICE |
Use the county's own terminology when requesting or describing the event. “Transferred,” “released,” and “out of custody” are not interchangeable. If the destination field is withheld or was not maintained, the receiving agency's locator and the related court docket may supply the missing context.
Washington County Release Record Fields
A precise request produces a more useful record than a broad request for “everything.” Give the full name, date of birth if known, approximate booking period, and case number. Ask Sheriff Records for the booking sheet and the nonexempt jail-register fields tied to that booking. The booking number is especially useful when a person has more than one arrest.
| Field | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Booking number | The county event identifier |
| Book date and time | When that jail custody record began |
| Release date and time | The recorded end of the booking |
| Release type or reason | Bond, court order, time served, transfer, or the county's exact label |
| Releasing authority | The court, sentence process, sheriff action, or other basis |
| Destination or receiving agency | Whether the event may have been a transfer |
| Charges and case numbers | The bridge to the public iCourt docket |
| Bond and hold fields | Why one case outcome may not have ended custody |
| Booking photograph | The image associated with that booking, if released after review |
A release record is not the same as a final court disposition. Arrest charges may later change, and a release on bond leaves the case pending. Likewise, the booking photograph documents an earlier intake event. It does not show a person's present status or establish guilt.
Request Washington County Release Records
The official Sheriff Records Request Form is the clearest written route. It preserves the date range and fields sought. The form requests the incident period, case number when known, subject names, a record description, and requester contact information.
- Identify one person and one booking or a tightly defined date range.
- Request the booking sheet, release date and time, release reason, releasing authority, public transfer destination, bond fields, and booking photo needed.
- Ask for electronic copies when suitable and request a fee estimate before work above a chosen amount.
- Keep the response, including any exemption cited for a denial or redaction.
Under Idaho's Public Records Act, section 74-103 generally requires a grant or denial within three working days. Written notice may extend the response period to no more than ten working days when more time is needed. This is a response framework, not a promise that every requested item will arrive within three days. Fees can reflect permitted labor or copying costs under the law, so the research supports no invented flat price.
The county publishes no confirmed retention period for departed roster entries. Sealed, juvenile, medical, victim, investigative, or security information may be limited. Idaho also uses statute- and order-specific remedies rather than a universal promise that every arrest record disappears. Request the actual public order from the Washington County Clerk when sealing or expungement is relevant.
Idaho Release Record Boundaries
Idaho Code sections 74-102 and 74-103 govern access and request procedure, subject to exemptions. A custodian may redact protected information while producing reasonably separable public fields. A written denial should identify its legal basis and review rights. Court records follow their own access rules, and IDOC records concern state custody or supervision rather than a short county booking.
Find Washington County Released Inmates
Start with the custody system most likely to hold the next record. The county roster only reports current jail custody and is not a release archive. For a named person, follow a source-by-source check instead of treating one no-result as final.
- Check the Washington County Daily Inmate Roster. A current match indicates reported jail custody; an absence needs confirmation.
- Submit the Sheriff Records form for the exact release entry and destination.
- Search the IDOC Resident/Client Search when a state sentence, transfer, parole, or probation is possible.
- Review Idaho iCourt by person, county, and case for the order, judgment, warrant, or disposition.
- Use VINE for a known-person custody event or alert, then use BOP, federal court, USMS, or ICE when a federal hold appears.
The 24-Hour Releases and 72-Hour Releases pages explain how to request complete time-window logs. For an anticipated state date, use the Release Date Lookup and keep eligibility, a tentative parole date, actual release to supervision, and sentence satisfaction separate.
IDOC Search for Washington Releases
IDOC's public search covers people in state correctional custody or supervision. It does not replace the Washington County jail record for a brief local booking. Search by IDOC number when available, or use the supported name fields. Then open the exact result and compare identity, sentencing county, case number, and status.
| IDOC field | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Overall Status | High-level custody or community posture |
| Supervising District and Officer | The operational contact for community supervision |
| Released to Supervision | A recorded past placement into the community |
| Sentence Satisfaction Date | The end of an active sentence, not prison exit |
| Parole Eligibility Date | Eligibility for consideration, not guaranteed release |
The official IDOC search form shows the state's search interface and update caution.
This image supports the state-search path; the result still must be reconciled with the county booking and court case.
Washington County Has No Release Feed
No official rolling 24-hour or 72-hour release archive was found for Washington County, Idaho. The Document Center labels its publication a Daily Inmate Roster. Comparing snapshots cannot reliably create a release log because a person may have transferred, been omitted during an update, or had a record corrected. A time-window request should state exact Mountain Time endpoints and request the nonexempt release fields.
Washington County Post-Release Supervision
Parole follows a prison term after Commission action. Probation is imposed by a court and may occur without a prison release. Washington County falls within IDOC District 3, and the live resident/client result can identify the supervising officer, office, and phone. “In community” means community placement under the displayed status; it does not necessarily mean discharge. Fugitive, Parole Violator, or Active Bench Warrant labels require prompt confirmation with the listed office. The Post-Release Supervision page explains the verification sequence.
Washington Release Alerts and Transfers
VINELink supports a specific-person custody check and event alerts. Select Idaho, match the correct person and reporting agency, then register through an offered phone, text, or email channel. Idaho's state material distinguishes county-held notification through the sheriff from IDOC tracking through VINE. Because no static source proves every Washington County event is fed, verify current coverage in the live service or with the sheriff.
For federal sentences, the BOP Inmate Locator may show “Released” or “Not in BOP custody” and a date. That statement does not rule out state, local, immigration custody, or federal supervision. USMS may hold federal pretrial detainees without a useful BOP record. An ICE detainer may also turn a county departure into direct transfer; use the ICE detainee locator, recognizing that a no-result is inconclusive.
Match Washington Records to Custody
Each official system answers a narrow question. Use the following scope check before drawing a conclusion.
| System | Best use | What it cannot prove alone |
|---|---|---|
| County Daily Inmate Roster | Current reported jail custody | Why or when an absent person left |
| Sheriff release entry | End of the county booking | Final outcome of every case |
| IDOC search | State custody, parole, or probation fields | A local booking never sent to IDOC |
| iCourt | Orders, judgment, and case chronology | The exact physical exit time |
| BOP or ICE locator | Agency-specific federal custody status | Freedom from every other custodian |
Washington County Jail Release Search
Washington County Jail is the sole detention facility in the research map. The Sheriff's Office operates this county jail in Weiser. People may leave for the community, probation, IDOC, another county, or another agency. Its facility page provides the local contact and record-request path.
Jail Release Versus Court Order
The sheriff record and iCourt docket answer different questions. The jail entry records operational release time and type. The docket supplies the judge's authority, bond terms, dismissal, judgment, sentence, warrant, or later revocation. A signed order may precede physical processing, and a dismissal in one case may coexist with another hold. Pair the case number from the booking record with the chronological docket rather than relying on a “case closed” label.
When requesting a court document, name the exact public judgment, bond order, dismissal, release order, or satisfaction entry. Clerks provide records but do not interpret their legal effect. Restricted documents should be described only through information visible on the public docket.
Avoid Wrong Washington County Releases
Search results for “Washington County releases” often surface Oregon's prominent release log. That record has no evidentiary value for Washington County, Idaho. Confirm that every county source refers to Weiser or uses the official co.washington.id.us domain. State, agency, address, and case number should also match before a similarly named person is treated as the same individual.
