Washington County VINE Coverage
VINE means Victim Information and Notification Everyday. The Idaho Attorney General describes it as a free, secure, confidential way to obtain custody or case information and register for notice. The state’s materials direct users to VINELink, choose Idaho, and search for one person. It can report custody events sent by participating agencies.
Coverage has an important local limit. Idaho’s published materials do not provide a static inventory proving every Washington County Jail event type is in the feed. Test the current search against a known person and agency, or ask the Washington County Sheriff whether the relevant event is transmitted. For an IDOC prisoner, state materials specifically identify VINE as an available notification route. For a person held by the county, the holding sheriff remains the local notification and record source.
Search Washington County VINE
A specific-person search is safer than a broad name scan. Gather the full name, approximate age or birth information, custody agency, and an ID number if known. A Washington County name can also collide with people and agencies in other states. Confirm Idaho and the reporting facility before opening a result. Similar names are not enough.
- Open VINELink and select Idaho.
- Choose the custody search offered in the live interface.
- Enter the supported name or identifier. Use the most exact known information.
- Compare the person’s descriptors, reporting agency, facility, and identifier.
- Open the matching record and read custody status and recent event exactly as labeled.
- Record when the status was checked, then confirm unclear timing with the custodian.
A “transferred” event means custody moved. It is not community release. Likewise, “released” means the participating source reported a release event, but it may not reveal a hold, another custodian, probation, or parole. For a full named-person search beyond VINE, use the Washington County released inmate lookup.
Washington County VINE Fields
The exact fields depend on the agency feed and the current interface. Keep the visible wording. VINE generally identifies the person, reporting agency or facility, current custody status, event, and available alert choices. A displayed time may describe the agency event or the platform update. Retain its label so those two moments are not confused.
| VINE field | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Person and identifier | Which reported record is open; identity still needs careful matching |
| Agency or facility | The source that supplied custody data |
| Custody status | The source’s current reported posture |
| Event wording | Release, transfer, escape, return, or another source-defined change |
| Date and time label | The labeled event or update time, not an unlabeled physical exit time |
| Notification options | Phone, text, email, or other channels offered for that record |
VINE is not a certified jail register. If the exact Washington County release time, reason, or transfer destination matters, request the sheriff’s booking and release entry. For an IDOC case, compare the Resident/Client Search and contact the listed state office.
Note: “Out of custody,” “released,” and “transferred” are distinct labels and should never be merged.
Register Washington County Release Alerts
Registration must attach to the correct result. A notification set on a similar name can cause false alarm and expose information about the wrong person. Verify Idaho, agency, facility, and identifiers first. Then use only the channels offered on that record. The live workflow may change, so follow its confirmation prompts rather than relying on an old screenshot.
- Select notification registration from the correctly matched VINE record.
- Choose an offered phone, text, or email channel.
- Enter the destination and complete the channel verification.
- If a phone flow asks for a PIN, choose a private number and retain it.
- Finish the security acknowledgment and save the confirmation supplied by VINE.
A PIN acknowledges a telephone notice when that channel requires one. It should not be shared. Email and text may use separate confirmation steps. Registration is not complete until the system says it is. If an expected alert does not arrive, check the live record and call the reporting agency rather than assuming no event took place.
Idaho Notification for County Custody
The local distinction in Idaho’s official materials deserves its own check. The victim-notification form directs county-held notification requests to the sheriff holding the defendant. It separately says an IDOC-incarcerated person can be tracked through VINE and supplies 1-866-984-6343. That division prevents one platform from being treated as the only authority for every Washington County detainee.
The Attorney General’s victim resources provide the official state explanation of VINE and its release or escape notification purpose.

The state source supports VINE’s notification role while preserving the sheriff’s responsibility for a defendant held in Washington County custody.
Confirm Washington County VINE Events
Reporting delay can occur between a physical move, agency data entry, and the VINE notice. Start with the event’s source. When Washington County Jail reports the event, ask Sheriff Records for the release entry if exact reason or time matters. Compare the case in iCourt, since a bond order, dismissal, judgment, probation order, warrant, or commitment may explain legal authority. A judge’s signed order can also precede operational processing.
For an IDOC event, use the Resident/Client Search. “In community” with a Parole or Probation row and Released to Supervision supports community placement. “In custody,” a facility address, or a future hearing points the other way. Fugitive, Parole Violator, or Active Bench Warrant calls for direct confirmation. The public database updates daily, so the listed office is the better source for a same-day conflict.
A Washington County roster disappearance alone proves little. The person may have bonded out, moved to IDOC, transferred to another county or agency, or left for another reason. Pair the custodian’s release record with a court or supervision record whenever the distinction matters.
Washington County VINE Limits
VINE is designed for a known person and future alerts. It is not an exhaustive Washington County 24-hour or 72-hour release list. The county publishes a Daily Inmate Roster, but no official rolling release feed was found. Do not subtract two roster snapshots and call the missing names released. That method cannot distinguish transfers, data corrections, and actual community exits.
Federal custody follows another route. For a sentenced federal prisoner, search the BOP Inmate Locator by register number or name. “Released” or “Not in BOP custody” speaks only to BOP status. It does not rule out state or immigration custody. Federal pretrial detainees may be managed by the U.S. Marshals Service and may not have a useful BOP record.
For immigration custody, use the official ICE locator with an A-number and country of birth or biographical fields. Recent movements and some categories may not appear. A no-result is not proof of community release. No dedicated ICE facility or public local ICE release feed was established for Washington County Jail.
- Custodian
- The agency legally responsible for the person and its source record.
- Transfer
- A handoff from one custodian to another, not freedom from custody.
- Data lag
- Time between the real event, source entry, platform update, and notice.
- Certified release record
- The official jail or corrections entry documenting the custody end.
Washington County Alert Follow-Up
After an alert, preserve the exact text, source agency, time label, and identifier. Then ask only what the alert does not settle. Sheriff Records can address a county release entry. IDOC can confirm state custody or supervision. The Clerk can supply a public order or judgment by case number and title. This focused approach avoids turning a notification into a claim it cannot support.
For future events, keep contact details current and retain the registration confirmation. If the person returns to custody, a new event may follow. A release does not mean that charges ended, supervision ceased, or every hold disappeared. The current custodian and court record answer those separate questions.
Washington County VINE Timing
When a VINE event and court record seem to conflict, compare their roles. The court supplies legal authority, while the jail or IDOC performs the physical custody action. Processing can occur after an order is signed. A VINE timestamp may reflect source entry or platform update rather than the precise moment of departure. Ask for the sheriff’s release date, time, type, and receiving agency when those facts are needed.
A notification history is not a full release history. It reflects only events and channels available for the matched record. Save the confirmation, but obtain the underlying public record for a formal chronology. If a status looks stale, contact the named source instead of creating a new meaning for the platform’s label.
